Twelve Ordinary Men

In the synoptic gospels, we’re given a list of men whom Jesus chose to be His close companions and ministry partners. There was nothing special about any of these men- they included fishermen, a despised tax collector and even a political terrorist within this group. These men had their own unique personalities, abilities and struggles. They weren’t chosen because of any particular goodness, gifts or talents within themselves.

Jesus chose them to be His official representatives, to deliver His message, to further His earthly ministry upon His ascension. These men had the unique privilege of sitting directly under the Master’s teaching and discipling; every day being molded and shaped into useful tools to further Christ’s message. Jesus took these ordinary, average men and used them in extraordinary ways.

In this book, you’ll be taken through the lives of each of the Twelve apostles. You’ll learn what Scripture says about them, their backgrounds, their ministries and even martyrdom.

I found it especially refreshing to see just how human these men really were; they dealt with the very same things that you and I deal with. And just as Jesus transformed these ordinary men into extraordinary tools, He’s doing the same in each of us who are true believers in Christ. How encouraging that is! If you have a desire to dig deeper into the lives of the men that shaped the Christian faith, I highly recommend this book!
